The challenge here was to merge two apartments into one larger unit that would be both comfortable for our clients and for visits from family and friends. The two living areas were a combined 3,000 sq. ft. This vast area needed to be useful for daily living and entertaining, but also house their large collection of furniture and art work.

Our task was to blend the two apartments but avoid the feeling that they have “two of everything” with simply the dividing wall removed. The final design had one of the apartments designated as the private living area – master suite, sitting area, and secondary kitchen. The other apartment became the public area, which included the main kitchen, dining and entertaining area, and guest bedrooms.

“The floor plan is open and feels much more spacious than what it really is.” That’s what we heard most from everyone who saw the finished transformation.
